Great news, Windows Phone fans. PureView is coming to Nokia Windows Phone handsets. The exciting news was confirmed by a Nokia spokeswoman revealing part of the PureView strategy includes “plans to bring PureView imaging experiences to Lumia over time.”
The amazing Nokia 808 PureView phone and its 41-megapixel camera sensor will be hitting the shops in a matter of months. For now PureView remains a Nokia Belle-exclusive, but as Nokia reveals, that will soon change.
Talking to PC Pro, the spokeswoman revealed it was always Nokia’s intentions to bring such high-end imaging experiences to future Nokia products, including Windows phone devices:
"Since Nokia is committed to Windows Phone as its primary smartphone platform, that includes plans to bring PureView imaging experiences to Lumia over time." But don’t rush to the shops to pre-order your PureView Lumia phone just yet. “No details of products or timelines have been confirmed yet,” the spokesperson reminds.
Why the fuss over PureView? As if you needed reminding. The PureView technology found inside the Nokia 808 PureView will let owners capture amazing, large shots that can be zoomed in on without losing detail.
The benefit is that you could create many photos from just one picture - letting you do more with your photos. Images are filled with the kinds of details smartphone owners wouldn’t have dreamt of even a few weeks ago.
The Nokia 808 PureView uses a 41-megapixel sensor, but as Nokia’s imaging chief Damien Dinningexplained last week, it isn’t just about how many megapixels you stuff into a phone. “We want to change the industry thinks of pixels. Ignore 41-megapixels for a second. Focus more on what you can do with those pixels.”
